Birth is luminous

With the loving support of my incredible partner, we brought our baby girl into our home last night. Little Calliope Luka (a.k.a Cally) came 10 days early - bright and sweet and ready to eat! She MUST be my daughter.

Taran was absolutely delighted to run into our room this morning and discover her lying there.

Apparently, the feeling was mutual. Or.... she was just hungry again.

I'd like to be more poetic about this exquisite moment in our lives, but too little sleep and too much sensory input have left me feeling tongue-tied. So I will just leave these images to do the talking for me.

  1. Oh wow, wow, wow!!!!! Can't believe you had time to post this, but so glad that you did :D Those pictures of Cally with Taran are just about melting my heart! What an absolutely wonderful, irreplaceable moment - the moment siblings first meet. I've never even thought about it before, but so happy that you had the foresight to capture this truly once in a lifetime moment. And what a wonderful big brother Taran will make! So happy for you Rebecca!! And not sure what your day was like - but our day was gloriously beautiful and I tried to enjoy it especially for Cally - on the first full day of her life :)

  2. These are awesome. She looks like Taran -- or like how he used to look, I guess. I love the kissing pictures and comments. Thanks for taking them and sharing them.

You seem very eloquent actually, though I'm sure you must feel foggy brained. Thanks for taking time to share these lovely moments before you (hopefully) have some really good sleep....
